It depends on how rusted the tank is. My 650 came with a poorly coated tank that was still rusting underneath the coating. Very nasty. I tried to recoat it with Por15 but first I needed to clean all that gunk out of the tank. I used a full can of the regular tank cleaner, a handfull of large nuts, 3 rubber stoppers from the hardware store, and strapped the tank to the back of my truck and drove like an #...@!$ to shake it all up.
