there is a unknown exception in the law that states that if you've successfully completed the basic riders course you don't have to wear a helmet...some cops and da's don't even know about it...but it's in there....

They went from having no helmet laws to having mandatory laws here some time last decade. This sparked a protest and hundreds rode down to Austin with no helmet and they rewrote the law. Now if you can prove you have the insurance and have the 'M' endorsement on your license you can get a special sticker for your license plate that lets cops know you're allowed to ride without a helmet. I meet both requirements myself but don't plan to apply for the suicide sticker.
