You should be able to recoup much more than $300 from the sale of parts from 
the 550. I've not seen it but... offer less and part-out. You'd be doing a 
favor for members too. As far as other of the series (650 / 700 / etc.) from 
the 83~86 years, to most of us they are worth whatever effort it takes. If we 
based our involvement on availability, we would'nt be here. You have to own one 
to understand the attachment. Many bikes are more comfortable or faster or 
handle better or stop faster. Few do all as well as this rare breed.

Thanks for the input.  I have an opportunity to buy a one-owner 550
with 45,000 miles for $300.  The engine is seized, but the seller has
a used "low mileage" engine (in a crate) that he bought years ago on
eBay.  I have no way to test the engine, charging system, etc.  I
suppose it's worth $300 in parts alone?
