I have the same problem with my 550. If you go to Paul's page http://hondanighthawks.net/550.htm on the 550 where there is a article from 83 test ride of the NH550 it states there you had to use the choke quite a bit on these bikes. Even running with choke on for a few miles till the bike "cleared out" don't take my word read the article  let me know what you think of the article. Ride safe Derby

I have the same problem with my 83 550. I have noticed it has a direct link to the weather. If it is hot an dry they work right off the bat. If it is cool or a little moisture in the air it takes them longer to work. I believe my flasher relay has moisture in it or is getting moisture in it. They always work eventually Ride safe Derby

The salvage yard I got mine from tested it for me before I bought it ;)

I'll 2nd the relay motion - I had to get one myself

I made the mistake of getting one at a slavage yard that didn't work.

I wasn't aware that it made a clicking sound when it worked properly.

I wasted a lot of time troubleshooting for nothing

Probably the relay under the left side cover. Around $40 from your local Honda dealer, A direct replacement part, fits exactly.

Hello all,
I am new to the site and looking forward to being part of this group. I have a 85 650sc NH that has some problems with the blinkers. The blinkers will work intermittently. They never work right away but usually after 3-4 minutes they decide to work. Sometimes  they don't go on at all. Could  this be a switch issue or a wiring issue? Looking for any info you can give me.
Thanks
