The EPA is just a pawn in the scheme of things. The real culprits - own the auto industry and the oil industry, and did I mention the pharmaceutical industry as well? The more fuel our machines consume the better for them. All they want is more money and more power. We have proven that we can engineer machines that last longer than 12 years. I told you the story about a gal who bought a Toyota and initially it got over 100 mpg? She made the mistake of writing them about the virtues of her wonderful, extremely low fuel consumption car. Some factory reps came in suits and shades, and with master keys, opened her car, removed/replaced the chip, and left. She interrupted their mission, but they never said a word to her, ignoring her protests of them "violating" her steed. Lo and behold, the mileage dropped to "normal" for a Corolla... Honda's goal was usually one HP per 10 ccs, and I don't know when they went off of that mantra, but I do know that their little racing 6-cyl 50cc had a lot more than 5 HP. And, as I understand it, that was an engineering exercise!! Oh, really. Yeah... I did like my super gnat...

Few people want to put much effort into anything, that's why I offered that as a solution. Bolt on / go fast. Air Research turbo kit is too much work for most. I liked Graham's answer best of all.. even better, replace with Hyabusa. AND, for our group, I'm pleased that nobody said Harley. Just like your CB160 ran so good ( I never told you that the guy I sold my wife's to, rode it up into Canada for a vacation ! ) and your 250 doesn't compare. If you ever rode a '66 450 and then a new one, you'd wonder where they went wrong. The twin cam 450 of old went low 14's and the new one you time with calendar. Blame it on the EPA. ________________________________ From: stanley/ Randolph <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Tue, March 16, 2010 2:16:17 AM Subject: Re: [Nighthawk Lovers] i want more power from my 82 450 nighthawk... As I mentioned in a previous post, water injection and 12.5 compression. It not only ups the HP immensely and safely, it also doubles your mileage, about. That means you would be getting around 120 mpg instead of 60. Mine gets around 60, so I am making an assumption here...
