I've never replaced the O rings on the drain screws, they seem to last forever. The ones that I have encountered that leaked were because the area of contact with the tip and seat had corroded from standing water in the bowls. Now, all that aside, have you considered the possibility of the bowls overflowing ? Float seat problems and it comes out there. FYI; they (O rings) are not available as separate parts. Packing set A ( all O rings, bowl gaskets, etc.) BUT no jets, or hard parts. Weasel a screwdriver in and drop the offending bowl. Nothing like a visual check. If the O ring leaks it would come out at the screw end and not the drain hole. The screw is a needle and seat affair. SO, to leak, the seal there has to be bad. Or the float problem...

My carburetors are dripping fuel from the drain holes. Mostly on the inner two. I have made sure the drain screws are snugged down. Going by the Clymer manual, the drain hole has an o- ring that goes in it. I am guessing by past maintenance finds on the bike that not many people have drained the carbs in the past like I have the last two winters and that those o-rings are probably junk by this point. Can I pull those drain screws and replace the o-rings without a lot of trouble, or do I have to pull the whole carb assembly out? Anyone know if I can even get those o-rings anymore? Do I have to buy a whole carb kit? Or am I off the mark here? Thanks! MN Blue -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Nighthawk Motorcycle Lovers!" group.
