White smoke is water and since this is an air cooled, it has to be water in the 
tailpipe, either from sitting or combustion or both,  and I say both, because 
you said the trip was only about 7 mi and 40 degrees.  Maybe the drainholes 
toward the joint at the headers are clogged?  Like, with rust?  You said it's 
been sitting.  I wouldn't worry unless you see blue smoke, and it would be 
unusual for a Nighthawk.
