i have friends who fear frying something in their system, so they
remove the battery to charge it.  I figure that the charger came with
the little pigtails for a reason, may as well use them.  I put mine on
the day I bought my 650, and have gone just over a full season with no
problems.  I will probably be replacing my rotor stator and voltage
regulator/rectifier with something a little better than OEM when I get
a chance just because these motorcycles have such a weak charging
system.
