There's some merit in Minnesota's Blues' educated guess. A little
moisture, in the form of condensation or even humidity, coupled with a
loose electrical connection, could cause juice to arc across the
connection, causing the starter to engage momentarily and prematurely.

Emphasis on "could," cuz I don't know for sure either. But
considering the fact that the issue goes away after the initial
contact and doesn't repeat once the connection has warmed up, it
sounds reasonable. The arcing itself could cause the warm-up/dry out
process of that particular connection. In other words, the motor
would not have to be running, generating heat, to effect the dry out,
because we're talking a minimal amount of moisture. So the issue
could disappear until next time conditions are "right."

As for a fix, cleaning and tightening electrical connections between
the battery and the solenoid/starter assembly, is my only suggestion.
There's some stuff called Caig Deoxit, an electronics cleaner/
deoxidizer that performs magic for electrical connections (kinda like
Seafoam does with fuel systems). Just Google it for a description.
