Lubing the seal is pretty simple.  Before you install the filter, dip
your finger in fresh oil and spread a thin film of it on the rubber
gasket on the bottom of the filter.

Two reasons for this.  It creates a better seal and makes the filter
easier to get off the next time you change oil.

There is a torque value for tightening the filter, but I don't know
offhand what it is.  I use the shade tree mechanic technique --
tighten it snug by hand, then use your wrench to tighten another one-
quarter turn.

Be careful not to over-tighten.  It's a bitch laying on your back
trying to loosen a filter or drain plug previously installed by a
muscle bound gorilla (!).
