Ok, so my kickstand kill problem seems to be fixed now the newest
problem.

Let me give you a rundown on the bike as I have been working on it so
far.

This weekend I had to fix a faulty ignition switch. The new ignition
did not come in time, and I wanted to ride, so I wired a toggle switch
to replace the ignition temporarily. I went for a ride on the highway,
had no issues. Bike performed perfectly.

Sunday night I went to tackle the bulb in the speedo. Replaced it,
working great (even though the parts house didnt have the exact bulb).
While I was at it I decided that I would try to fix the broken tach.
That proved to much for me and I botched the job. I just removed it
all together and left the wiring harness in, secured so it would be
easy to put the new one in when I can get my hands on one.

Next time I tried to road test the bike, it dies every time I put it
into gear. I fiddled with the kickstand kill a bit and got that fixed.
Now time for a real road test.

Took the bike out this morning. Barely got to 1/4 throttle in first
and it started sputtering and backfiring. I had experienced a little
hesitiation from the bike at lower speeds before, but it normally
powers through it no problem. Not this time. Shifted up to second,
same deal. No matter how far back I rock the throttle, still just
spits and sputters.

Tonight I put it up on its centerstand and tested out the clutch. Put
the bike into gear, tire spins. Hit the rear brake with the clutch in,
tire stops with little effort. I decided to run through the gears with
it on the centerstand. No problem. I could crank the throttle back as
far as I dared and the bike didnt miss a beat. . . . It only has a
problem on the pavement.

Any ideas?
