sounds like the starter when it heats up decides 'enough'

actually what was happening was ......nothing. Just the click of the
solenoid. nothing else. all electronics came alive and every thing
seem to work but no starter turn.

Are you are using full choke? Did you try holding throttle down all the way
and starting?

I had similar issue and it just took a little longer to start with full
choke.

New to the group, own an 83' cb650sc and love it!
so I went riding with my friend on a hundred mile trip through upstate
SC in 100 degree weather and experienced a strange problem that
neither of us could figure out. so I found you guys and figured I
would make friends.

when I left my house the Bike started up as fast as always. usually on
hot days I only need to warm the bike for a minute or two. ran some
errands and the bike started every time, no problems. I go in to eat
and come back out and the starter won't turn. I end up having to roll
start the thing. I meet up with my buddy and we go for our ride. at
every stop along the way I have to roll start it. after the trip we
get back to his house and kabitz for a while, I leave and boom the
darn thing is working again.

Any Ideas on how I can:
1 find the problem
2 fix it
or three Exercise the demons out of it?
