Maintenance

On a big loop around the western US in the summer of 1972, I was in a small
town in Colorado with my Honda 350 loaded up with backpack and a sleeping
bag and all. I pulled into the parking lot of a big market and there were
two really cute girls standing and talking on the side walk in front of the
market just where I was going to park. I felt like Bronson and I'm sure I
rev'd it up a bit to make a show. They were watching me and I got off
trying to look cool and collected - and I was trying so hard to impress
them, that I forgot to put the kickstand down. So. I just laid it right
over onto its side with me having to jump out of the way when I realized
that it was going all the way to the ground. After a bit of giggling, they
walked off and I was left to collect up my motorcycle and what little was
left of my ego. Ow - how un-Zen like.
