Well, Florida can get cold. This AM it was 49 degrees at 8 AM and
because I wore my leather gloves, I couldn't feel my fingertips an
hour or so into a Sunday ride. But I do have gear I left home that
would have kept me cozy. I'm talking snowmobile gloves and a fleece
neck gaiter that bars that cold wind from infiltrating my otherwise
warm jacket. I did wear my insulating overshirt from Wal-Mart, bought
last month for a mid-40s ride through the Dragon in North Carolina,
and that helped a lot. Florida last year got into the 30s with a few
snowflakes. Forget Miami Vice. We had Miami Ice!

By the way, just got my prize mount some new shoes... Avon AN26
Roadriders, for $87.99 each, front and rear, no shipping, no tax, from
JakeWilson.com. That's cheap. The local bike shop said the price was
$2 less than his wholesale. The tires are great, even better than the
Michelin M50s I had that are no longer made. I just hope their
longevity matches their smoothness and grip. Further reporting
forthcoming.

Stay warm. Ride safe.
