Clemson, where I live, tends to just go for the overnight thing, and then in lieu of more jail time the judge nails you with high double digits hours of community service. :D
One of the local university students had to drop out of college because his community service time was so enormous. Mind, that wasn't just for speeding, but also for Public Drunk and Disorderly and Contributing to Delinquency of a Minor charges as well. The City had him sorting trash and scrubbing the sidewalks in front of the bars after Friday/Saturday nights...
