It took me 30 minutes to thaw out after a 25 mile ride, with no windshield to block the cold from me, 38 in the morning sun and riding behind a semi to block the wind. I was well layered: thermals, two pairs of pants, two shirts, jacket and a down jacket with a flap over the zipper and snaps to keep it closed and keep the air out. Fifty miles?? I don't think I would make it It was warmer on the way back at around 1:00, and I really learned to appreciate that flap over the zipper, having left the flap unsnapped. Going 30 mph on my bicycle (with a motor - for two miles) was easy by comparison, even though my head wasn't covered.
