Yea the wind feels like it just pushes on the wheels, you just have to go with
it and steer straight. Or don't ride when its windy.

Subject: [Nighthawk Lovers] OMG Wind!!1!! and other items

What is this, March already? We've had some killer winds here lately, and it
always seems to be blowing /straight across/ the road I have to take to go
home. Grrrr... scared the daylights out of me the first time I really got
hit, it felt like something was trying to jerk the bike sideways out from
under me while I'm barreling down the road at 55. Talk about an eye-opening
moment!

Any good tips to handle that kind of wind shear? It's almost like it's
cutting across just above the road surface, because I barely feel it at all
on my helmet or sides, and I wear a backpack that rather significantly
increases my cross-section from the side.

Also, wheee! My box of parts has arrived: taller sprocket set and
appropriate new chain, as well as a double handful of fresh bolts, nuts and
hangers for the exhaust. And my other throttle cable; I inspected the one I
have when I was going to replace just the missing cable, saw enough rust and
evidence of a lot of stretch that I'm just going to replace both of them and
adjust accordingly. While I'm in there I plan to adjust the choke cable, if
possible, so I don't have to apply 1/2 choke just for it to actually start
doing anything.

Just a little rust removal left to do on the pipes (been busy with school,
work, more school... ugh, busy busy) and I'll be ready to start getting them
put on. Mmmm, nice blacked out stock pipes, Tahitian blue panels and a black
frame. Slowy and surely the chrome goes away... :D
