Yea I understand that rational. I'm more of a performance oriented rider myself. They make great touring bikes and that engine is way over built the only issues with them is the RR fries the stator, look to replace with an electrosport unit asap. Also you can get an electric ignition unit for them to ditch the points for about $120. I was actually looking for one of those before I bought the VFR. I wanted to do the GSXR upgrade and make a big bore cafe out of it. I was actually planning to get a 750 and sticking the 850 jugs on it since I couldn't find any 1000s with a chain drive they are all shafties. Might still do that next year since I have a line on a 750. Sent via BlackBerry by AT&T

Allen, I'm planning to leave this bike as is - run it - enjoy it - and believe me - the fairing / windshield and bags might look 'so 70s' but they are VERY practical and I was not terribly chilled after taking a ride on it today in 32 degree temperatures - believe me - this is the first bike I've ridden with a windshield - and its staying on it! Regarding the suspension - its got double disc brakes on the front and a single on the rear - I had no particular problem stopping, and locked the rear briefly on gravel on the road. I know what you're saying about the handling - but you have to remember what I'm comparing it to - I rode my Dad's HD SuperGlide twice (total of 100 miles - at most) and I've put something like 13,000 miles on my 1982 CB450SC. This is an amazing upgrade and one of the reasons I was attracted to it was that it looks, feels and handles very similar to the NH. I guess its all about what you want to do with a bike - I'm looking for something that I can take on a day trip - or a weekend long trip - and not feel saddle sore at the end of the day. I put over 300 miles on the NH the last day I rode it (except that VERY cold trip to my Dad's house for winter storage) and I was in so much pain, I nearly couldn't get up the stairs to my second floor apartment. The bigger frame, highway pegs, etc should help to make that less of an issue. Oh and now I'd consider showing up at Graham's house for a NH reunion - on the bike! Ironic huh? :-) -Joey On Sat, Mar 26, 2011 at 8:16 PM, Allen Thomas <[email protected]> wrote: > Are you going to leave it as a dresser? I'm jealous btw.
