I actually had a Iron Butt 1,000 mapped out on the Big Island of
Hawaii. We were basically going to do a 808 on the island. Two trips
in a figure 8 going over the middle of the island and one around the
outside. 808 because our area code is 808..... Then the guy I was
planning with fell of the face of the earth and with no-one to do it
with I decided to pass - they don't recommend doing it solo. The guy
who runs the Iron Butt has done it once before in Hawaii and gave me
the course.

When I get a new bike in Portland I'm going to plan an Iron Butt from
there with the second 600 mile day to get the second patch - Saddle
Sore 1,600 I think - 1,600 miles in two days. Basically Day 1 a loop
from Portland to Denver and back with a Portland to northern CA on day
2.

I
I'll keep you posted.
