Might not be a bad idea to change the front or rear sprocket for better fuel economy.

You're going to have to stop to put the extra gas in it anyway, and 160 miles is just a bit shy of three hours at a steady 60mph; might as well just buy it fresh and avoid the issue? Only reason I've ever carried extra fuel on a trip with me is when I head north to Chicago, where gas is stupidly expensive. I fill two five gallon cans and put them in my car's trunk, then use the cheap-cheap SC gas in Chicago rather than filling up at city prices. Saves me a good $10-15 in gas over the trip. -Kurt On Thu, Apr 28, 2011 at 8:55 PM, Lie Njie <[email protected]> wrote: Howdy, So I'm planning a cross-country trip on my '92 750. Stock tank is about 4 gallons, which is about 160 miles max or so, which isn't very far for a 4,000 mile trip. I'm curious if anyone here has any experience carrying extra gas along with them. What did you use? Would you do it again? How much could you carry? How safe was the extra gas in the hot summer sunlight on a full-day ride?
