I'm guessing this is a 750. They do have a bit of a vibe problem
around 2500, so anything thats loose will be amplified. I would
suspect the mechanic left something in the clutch area. Grab a piece
of tubing or hose to put up to your ear... try to better locate the
noise.

Edit... rock in the engine noise? kind of like the sound that a
bearing makes when going bad? that non-consistent, unsteady clicking
noise?

Vibes on the bike are also pretty harsh up in the higher revs... does
it do it there as well? is it possible that the noise is there but
it's masked by the louder engine noise at high revs?
