I know this thread is a little old, but i found my leak... its the O-ring
where the starter goes into the engine, it leaks just enough so that I loose
enough oil to make shifting suck! I got some black rtv "make a gasket" (as
i call it), put it on the outer part of the starter (between the O-ring and
the starter itself), and it doesn't seem to be leaking at all. I also
impressed a friend who rides Suzukis and Yamahas at just how easy changing
the oil is, took all of about 20 minutes, 15 of which was waiting for the
old oil (nasty stuff) to drain! And before anyone asks, I did switch back
to motorcycle oil. Although, on the shifting sucking... Up-shifting is no
problem, its down thats an intermittent issue at this point... I first
noticed it on a ride with a bunch of harleys last weekend, anyone experience
this before, and have any solution short of replacing the clutch? Its almost
as if the shifter forks don't engage quite all the way and its stuck in
whatever gear, it doesn't matter if its OD or 2, it does it intermittently
in all gears, but usually moreso if its very hot out (85+ degrees) and once
its warmed up...
