It's the "slingo" (slang-lingo) most pilots wrap themselves in as a part of growing up in that field. Dad was a career Naval Aviator and I couldn't understand half of what he was talkin' about most of the time.
I was 17 before I realized he was a pilot and not an immigrant from a foreign country, speaking broken English. (!)
