I have an o-ring chain on my '93, with about 5k on it now. Still haven't actually had to adjust more than half a turn on the screws, so I still have a /ton/ of life left in the chain.
I give it a good dousing of Honda branded chain lube every second or third fill-up, and check the tension every other month (so about every six tanks or second lube). 20k miles should be well within my grasp for this particular chain, if not more. If you're at 17k and you're already out of adjustment, where did you start? You must have started out pretty far in the adjustment band, does your bike still have the little set of marks on a sticker under the slot on the left-side swingarm? -Kurt On Mon, Sep 26, 2011 at 3:57 PM, Allen Thomas <[email protected]> wrote: > Really that depends on how you often you lube it, whether you ride two up, > how much you get on it, if the bike sits outside, and how old the chain is > (o-rings dry rot). Personally I expect 20 - 30K. > Sent via BlackBerry by AT&T > > -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Nighthawk Motorcycle Lovers!" group.
