Thanks Graham!

Yes, I have my opinion as well....

IF the bike is MINT (no faded decals, aftermarket crap/modifications,
torn/aftermarket seat, worn items) , and NEVER been dropped (no
scrapes anywhere!), then I'd consider it a good deal/price.... Finding
ANY year/color 700-S in MINT shape is extremely hard to do these days,
if not close to impossible! This bike is RWB, AND mint, those are 2
VERY hard things to ever come across!!....THEN, if you factor in the
cost of NOT having to buy new tires, have the carbs serviced, and a
recent tune-up, you can deduct those values/prices off the price of
the bike (I'm putting that value at $600.00, not counting your time),
which now (kinda) puts the basic RWB bike at $3000.00 if these items
had not already been done.

Prices vary on these bikes, depending on what part of the country you
live in. I've seen 3 times (east coast) that one of these bikes has
sold for OVER $5000.00 (all under 10K miles), and NONE of them were
'86 RWB (RWB is rarest, as Graham stated). I also know of a few other
700-S that have sold for over 4G in the past year, and ONE of them was
an almost mint '86 RWB, with only 2K miles on it (gas tank had paint
damage on one side).

I now have 40 (yes, 40) Nighthawk-S bikes, and 4 of them are '86 RWB
models. Of the 40 bikes, NONE of them are perfect, and only a few are
what most people would call (near) mint. I've bought these bikes from
every area of the country, and paid anywhere up to $3600.00 for one,
and THEN paid to have it shipped to me.

Check the bike one more time, and look for any signs of body/paint
damage, and also look for rust or scrapes on the exhaust (the pipes
will almost always show rust starting on the the head pipes). If you
like the bike, and it's truly is in nice/mint shape, then you'll be
hard pressed to find another, and I'd say "buy it" (***NOTE***....I'd
still try to get it for less than the asking price, as it is NOT super
low miles, and I'm sure you'll be able to find some flaws on the bike,
to help justify your offer).

Let us know what happens.

ps. Hey Graham, I'd like to talk with you on the phone about a
different subject. Do you still have my #? If not, send me a PM, and
I'll reply with my #.
