I have a 1982 Nighthawk 650. I am very pleased with it. All of the
responses that you have gotten so far, are legitimate. Parts are hard to
find. Labor is expensive. My 650 has 11400+ miles; it runs like a Swiss
watch. I have learned a lot about how to care for an older bike, over the
last 2 years.
If you are wanting an Interstate traveler, the 650 may not be what you
want; sure, she will do 85, but it's not really the comfort zone for long
hauls, more like 65 mph. Think of it as a "vintage" bike and treat it like
a vintage show car, she will treat you well. If you need a "point A to
point B" reliable, daily driver - that's asking a lot from a 30 year old
bike.
