Please consider that the “recommendations” but so that the manufacturers
recommendations are not designed to provide maximum utility and use of the
product by the purchaser, but rather to provide maximum legal protection to the
manufacturer. Those weight limits are arbitrary and not absolute. One must
assume the benefits and risks of living!

Many years ago, a town I lived in passed a law that made it illegal to wear
high heeled shoes in the winter. They actually did not care what footwear
anyone wore, and the real reason was to prevent a lawsuit from a fall on an ice
covered city street while wearing “illegal” footwear.

I was in a few bike shops this weekend, found that some of the 750's
have a weight limit (max load) of under 400lbs. Got me to thinking
that something must not be right. I see lots of weight on bikes that
size on the highway no less.

My passenger and I are on a weight loss trajectory....so, we're going
to bust our butts to get off a collective 50 or 60 pounds...then I'll
load 'er up.

Thanks everyone, this has all been helpful.
