I bought a Saddlemen on ebay for my 1985 650. It looks like the original. I put the cover in the sun on a warm day for about an hour. Then I sat in the sun and worked it over the seat with the old padding on it. The padding was still in good shape even though the old cover had split. It took about an hour to work it over and stapled it on with an ordinary staple gun. If I had a heat gun it probably would take even less time.
