I had the same problem. There are stainless steel bars made in Vietnam
available on Ebay (or was it Amazon)? I have also seen a guy someone
selling a pair of them that were "brand new but didn't fit." Me, I bought
another 750 NH that had what I wanted (engine guards, center stand, sissy
bar) and then sold it. Alternately, I suppose you could just put frame
sliders on the engine mounts to give it some lateral protection. You can
call the graveyards, but I didn't have much luck. I have asked a few
sellers on craigslist if they would sell the luggage off the 750 they were
selling but have never gotten a positive reply, but they cited that the
turn signals were on the hardware. For something like engine guards, they
might do it if the price were right and they cold lower the selling price
of the bike and still come out ok.

Last thought. My mechanic said he had a catalog that listed highway pegs
for my 1984 V30. Never asked what catalog that was, but maybe your local
"2nd tier" shop would know.
