Larry, Regarding your friend with a 30 year riding gap - have him take a motorcycle riding class. After 27 years of not riding, I took one (required by Texas law) & really appreciated it. 1) it broke some bad habits I had developed in past riding & honed or brought back skills I had forgotten. Well worth the $$. Keep the greasy side down!

I enjoy swapping maintenance tips, riding stories, etc. In 2009, a good friend of mine asked me to help him find a good used motorcycle, so he could get back into riding after a 30-year gap. I found the Nighthawk, which had 3,900 miles at the time, on Craigslist. Since the economy was horrible, we were able to get it for only $2,500. Bazinga! In 2011, John said, I'm going to sell my motorcycle, are you interested? My answer was HELL YES! So, I sold the GPz and became a Honda owner. The NH is 10 years newer, but it is so refined, there is very little comparison. About a year ago, I moved from Pennsylvania to South Carolina. The riding season is a LOT longer here (despite the 3" of snow yesterday) and the roads aren't nearly as crowded. So, if you live in Upstate SC and want to ride, give me a holler.
