I have the same problem, except mine is dead while moving & only jumps when
idling

Thank you,

Subject: [Nighthawk Lovers] Tach on 96 750 acting up

So my tachometer is doing what I call the "happy dance" - jumping up and
down really quickly as I ride my1996 750. In High School my 1970's VW Bug
did this and I just replaced the cable to fix the problem or maybe we just
added graphite - don't really remember it's been a few years..... I'm
wondering if this is just the first signs of the Nighthawk tach getting
ready to bad or is it worth replacing the cable? I like having a tach so I
will replace it when / if it dies.

Thanks - Sean
