There's just way too many low information people out there for the good of the free world. When the then Democratic nominee Barack Obama was first campaigning for President he made a speech about the shameful and Un American national debt crisis and his ability and desire to fix it. Once in office he has gone on a 4 year spending spree, only occasionally pausing for a moment to spew a few talking points about the debt, and now he completely denies that there is a debt crisis. What's even more alarming? He does this with little or no media challenge, in fact the media lapdogs repeat each and every talking point he puts out even the most ridiculous ones. The American main stream media of today is as bad as the Russian state run media of the 70's and 80's. This my friends is a sign that the world as we know it is briskly coming to an end. And when America falls the feedoms of all humans on this planet will be in serious jeopardy. It won't be much longer before the "Administration" officially declares war on his "it's" political opponents. the only thing I can think of to relate it is that phrase from Star Trek regarding the "Borg". "Resistance is futile, you will be assimiliated". Mike

TDY/TAD Travel In keeping with the latest round of DOD budget cuts, changes will be made to the Joint Travel Regulations (JTR). Effective 1 April 2013 the following revised procedures will apply: Lodging All personnel performing temporary duty (TDY) are encouraged to stay with relatives and friends while on government business travel. If weather permits, public areas such as park benches should be used as temporary lodging sites. Bus terminals, train stations, and office lobbies may provide additional shelter in periods of inclement weather. Homeless shelters are encouraged. Transportation: Hitchhiking is the preferred mode of travel in lieu of commercial transport. Luminescent safety vests will be issued to all personnel prior to their departure on TDY. Bus transportation will be used only when work schedules require such travel. Airline tickets will be authorized in extreme circumstances and the lowest fares will be used. For example, if a meeting is scheduled in Washington D.C., but a lower fare can be obtained by traveling to Omaha, NE, then travel to Omaha will be substituted for travel to Washington D.C. Meals: Overweight personnel will not receive reimbursement for any meals purchased while TDY. Expenditures for meals will be limited to an absolute minimum. It should be noted that certain grocery and specialty chains, such as Costco, Hickory Farms, General Nutrition centers, and occasionally Safeway often provide free samples of promotional items. Entire meals can be obtained in this manner. We realize many of you survive your weekends this way. Travelers should also be familiar with indigenous roots, berries, and other protein sources available at their destinations. If restaurants must be utilized, travelers should use "all you can eat" salad bars. This is especially effective for employees traveling together as one plate can be used to feed the entire group. DOD Personnel are also encouraged to bring their own food on business travel. Cans of tuna fish, Spam, and Beefaroni can be consumed at your leisure without the bother of heating or costly preparation. Cost of these items will not be reimbursed. Miscellaneous: In order to facilitate acquisition of lodging and meals as prescribed above, the DoD has mandated viewing of the entire Survivorman series prior to travel. The TSA will issue waivers allowing Government employees traveling on orders to carry multi-tools through airport security checkpoints. In addition, all DOD personnel are encouraged to devise innovative techniques in effort to save tax dollars. One enterprising individual has already suggested that money could be raised during airport layover periods that could be used to defray travel expenses. In support of this idea, red caps will be issued to all personnel prior to their departure so that they may earn tips by helping others with their luggage. Small plastic roses and ballpoint pens will also be available to personnel so that sales may be made as time permits. Any remaining proceeds must be turned into the DOD finance section at the conclusion of the TDY. I just got the attached letter a couple days ago. I think the real issue right now is that no one really nows how many things are going to be affected by this situation, and which degree. Sequester affects only a few billion dollars vs. trillions spent by the administration in its first four years. The message from on high has been "make it hurt." Why? To create a perceived crisis, of course. Then...never let a crisis go to waste. Gotta call b.s. on this, all the way around.
