Hey guys,

Got an interesting puzzle on my bike. Changed the clutch fibers out for a
NOS set of Surflex ones as i was getting a bit of slip. Still had an
occasional bit of slip above 6k so ordered some OEM springs out of Japan.
Went to put them in tonight and noticed some damage under the clutch cover
that wasnt there before.

It looks like the outer basket has moved a little bit and made momentary
contact with some casting marks on the back of the cover. Two of the
fingers of the basket are slightly damaged but not on the important surface
so i dont think i need a new outer. Its also possible a small piece of
metal or other debris has gotten between the outer and the cover but theres
nothing visible in there now. What confuses me is how this happened. I
did about 3,000km on the new clutch and never noticed any odd noise or
vibration.

Theres a tiny bit of play in the outer basket on its bearings, a very small
amount. I dont think i could split the crankcase and reassemble for a
reasonable cost compared to what the bikes worth, so at this point am
looking at cleaning up the casting marks on the cover and the damage to the
outer basket and reassembling.

Your thoughts and wisdom are very much appreciated.
