Even with 2000 grit it will be dull but once you take a buffer to it with rubbing compound it will start to get shiny. Then after the swirl remover it will look perfect. You'll probably need a courser grit like 800 or 1000 to wet sand out your swirl marks then followed by 1500 grit wet sand. Follow that with a rubbing compound then a polish then a wax and you should be in pretty reasonable shape.
