just purchased a 1982 450 nighthawk. the bike came with 2 keys. one for ignition, one for gas tank. neither operates the helmet holder. my understanding is that the alpha numeric 3-digit key code system honda's been using was started in 1983. BOTH of my keys have the key codes written on them, which tells me that both the gas cap AND ignition have been replaced, and clearly from different sources because if everything was original, one key should work in all key holes. anyway... i'd like to use my helmet holder. i've removed it from the bike to inspect for the key code and the only code i find is on the back, "1VO319". maybe this is just a date stamp or something? anyone know if this is my key code number?
