Howdy y'all,

>From Paul's website, I see all sorts of wonderful looking Nighthawks..
Maybe someday I'll be able to fix my Nighthawk up all pretty! :)

Ok, my issue/question: My '96 CB250 Nighthawk has been having speedometer
issues for a number of months now. At first the speedo needle would jump
wildly up and down when riding down the road, but then it completely
stopped. I checked the cable and that seemed to work fine. I then bought a
"new" speedo, installed it, and it worked for about 15 miles before it
stopped working as well. After some more research, I read that a pin could
be bent under the front break cover, so I took the front wheel apart,
played with it, and noticed that when I turned the gear inside the
cylinder, it would turn fine one way and pop out if I turned it the other
way. Is that normal?

I'm slowly teaching myself motorcycle mechanics (can be frustrating when I
hit a wall over and over again.. :-/), but if someone can offer any advice,
I'd be grateful. I thought maybe I could clean out all the grease inside
the wheel hub so I could see the gears better, but I'm not sure what type
of grease or how much to replace it with.

Again, any help or advice would be great. I'll probably be sending more
questions (cuz I have a lot!) in the future now that I found this
forum/website. Thanks!
