Tom,

It looks like a lot of stuff, but it was actually pretty minimal. I did
bring some "indulgence" stuff like lots of books, since for my new job I'm
going to be living in the woods for a while. Once I found out that my
exhaust was melting the contents of my saddle bags, I had to move more
stuff up to the hiking backpack strapped across the back, so the saddle
bags were virtually empty. I stopped along the way and tried to clean my
reserve out, but I must have some rust in the tank and it keeps getting
clogged. With my tiny gas tank and long empty stretches of highway out
west, I had to add the gas can to my setup in order to make it between gas
stations. All told, by the end of the trip my bike wasn't exactly handling
wonderfully. I can't tell you how awesome it was to unload all that gear
and ride my bike around Yosemite! To remember how a motorcycle is supposed
to feel.

Now that I'm at the end of my journey, I think I'm going to try some
Evapo-rust and see if I can fix that reserve issue once and for all. I'm
also going to leave behind some of the heavy luxury camping items when this
job is over, so hopefully wherever the road takes me next, I'll be getting
there with grace.
