There are lots of nice bikes around that size engine, and we see many real nice NH 250's here. Honda has just put a nice new 300cc bike out. Even though it is too crotch rockety style for me to ride, if you are considering a 250cc bike, it may not be a concern to you. They are wildly popular around here and quiet as a Swiss watch: but at around $3900(!)
Even in LA CA, you have to look a long time on Craigslist to find a good deal with all the scalpers in hard times like now. Good luck, and when you see it, you better jump! Because people don't list them properly, THAT may be your best chance to get by scalpers with their set queries. To find my (relatively) good deal, (when I got my money) I just looked for new bikes by their date posted (once a week on Friday's, what a drag). My bike had been posted for 15 minutes when I snagged it from a buyer with integrity judged from the immediate phone call.
