For what one mans oppinion is worth. You should seriously consider keeping it if you can. They are the most friendly bike I know of when it comes to maintenance. And they are quite entertaining to ride. Since your young im guessing you are looking to step up. I know the allure of a powerful sport bike is strong but eventually you realize that you can have just as much excitement on an old slower bike, the only difference is the speed your doing it at. Everyone I know eventually went back to the standard bikes like your NH. I still have my VFR and it has its merits ( you really need 2 bikes anyway). But mostly I want to ride one of the old girls.
