I'm sorry I haven't been able to spend more time helping you with this.
They started a new round of chemo last week and the new drugs have been
kicking my butt. From the diagram it looks like your bike uses the same
design as the last gen 1991-2002 NH750. I'm convinced that your issue is
coming from mounting the cover. The bolts that go through the springs
should be run in all the way with some blue locktite. Then when you mount
the cover play around with where the lever is placed, sometimes there is a
mark on the case that lines up with the slot on the lever where it clamps
to the release rod. What you want is that there is just the slightest
amount of slack at the lever when the clutch is engaged and your riding
down the road. No static slack and the clutch will slip under power. And as
much travel as possible. Not enough travel and the clutch won't disengage
properly. A new clutch will only release at full lever travel and as it
wears it will eventually get to where as soon as you start to pull in the
lever the clutch will disengage. So don't expect the
engagement/disengagement point to be the same as it was.

Since you are seeing slipping at both ends of operation I would remount the
cover with the lever farther away and add some slack to the cable to
compensate.
