I've upped the front sprocket in steps from a 15 to a 16 to a 17 (rear the same at 38T), and let me tell you I could never go back. The only thing is that the guide on the swingarm is no longer a valid measure of when the chain is stretched. I tried to get two runs to the West Coast out of the same chain, but it didn't work. The chain was shot by Denver, and having a shop put a new one on (pictured) ran me a bundle. Plus they ended up just putting it on over the old sprockets, which I got away with, but I know the life of the new chain has been compromised. I did buy another 17T front sprocket and had it shipped to Seattle, but I haven't put it on yet. If you'd like the current 17T front sprocket just to try it out and see if you like it, you're welcome to it. My bet is that you'll like it.
