Being a natural-born tightwad, I used to put cheaper chains on bikes. Why pay all that money when the cheap chains work just fine? These days, I've changed my tune. The expensive chains are worth every penny. When I come home from a ride and the chain is still warm, I'll put it on the center stand and lay down two rows of lube, one on the inside and one on the outside, and let it sit overnight. That's it. I rode my Nighthawk from Vancouver to Atlanta without adjusting the chain, and then turned around and rode it to Key West and back. I think I adjusted the chain once. Non-issue. The thing I do dislike, though, is cleaning the extra lube off the back wheel, left side. But that's just my bugaboo.
