Any of the rust removers will do it just let it soak for a week or so I have used Evap-O-Rust with grate results Look for something that will not harm paint

The problem is that neither WD-40 or Deep Creep lubricant are loosening the crystallized build-up on the inside of the locking mechanism. SO!...I was just wondering if anyone on here has any ideas as to what to use to de-crystallize it? Or! ..should I just 'dremel' it off using a wire brush attachment?
