+1 on Tommy's comment. The only case I've personally heard of was when somebody took the bowls off the carbs and then dropped them on a concrete floor. One carb hit on the pegs that hold the pivot pin for the floats and broke a peg. That was curtains for that carb, but even then the other 3 were intact. So barring the case that something gets broken or stripped, ports can be cleaned, parts can be replaced, and the carbs can live on.
