I agree with Tommy, however I did have an `82 450 Custom that spent many weeks in the Honda dealer's shop while they tried to diagnose the problem (for a fixed cost). It became their nightmare. It would not idle right or maintain constant at low RPMs. They finally said they had eliminated everything except the carb bodies. They could not suggest getting new carbs but proposed that if I were to get some used ones they would install them and continue. I found some on Ebay from the east coast, crossed fingers and ordered them.
... Those new carb bodies fixed the problem immediately and decisively. It was weird.
