Sounds like a dragging clutch. If it's hydraulic, you likely have a worn 
out bushing in the clutch lever. Check out this article

actuator pin had worn all the way through the pivot bushing. After the 
repair, my hard up shifting and down shifting problems went away. The 
bushing can be found here

problem it can be solved for $8.50mplus shipping and ten minutes of your 
time.
