   I have a cb650sc with the same issue. The stator doesn't turn on unless 
the Field effect coil tells it that the battery needs to be charged... My 
bike would only run for 12-15 minutes then I would have to charge the 
battery again. If I was in the position where I had not replaced anything 
yet... I would just go to ricks and swap out the VRR, ( Voltage Rectifier, 
Regulator) It was like 120 bucks and my thoughts were that the Field Effect 
coil gets turned on my the Silicone control rectifier in the VRR. I would 
up putting a stator in it and it didn't fix the issue. So I put in the VRR 
and new battery, I hope it helps.
