Wow, thanks for all the responses and advice! The bike was dropped by one
of the 3 previous owners, and the guy before me repainted it with those
blue flames. I have so little experience, I'm not even qualified to say how
it runs. The engine runs fine, idles nicely and I'm happy that it doesn't
have the timing chain rattle of the 650. The steering I don't love yet, but
that's probably me, rather than the bike. I like the seating position (I'm
6'3") better than on the 650. And I love that you can remote the seat. I
will be building a luggage rack for it, so I don't have to carry my stuff
in a backpack. Something I can click my Ortlieb bicycle bags into. :)

A brief look under the cowling confirms what you guys are saying. Yet, I
really would like that 3000 lumen. I installed an LED headlight in the 650,
and man, it's super bright and people do take notice. I'm adding a light
bar to both bikes as well. After years of riding a bicycle in traffic,
anything to get noticed.

The history of the bike...I bought it from the third owner. He bought a new
700S in 85, sold it later, but loved it so much, he bought this one many
years later. He has not replaced it with a super loud, massive bike (forgot
the name), which had flames on it from the factory. lol The bike was
advertised on offerup.com for $1350, and he hasn't sold it for several
months. The photo wasn't very good on that ad. As usual, he got the
standard low ball offers. I eventually got it for $1100. Almost three times
of what I paid for the 650, but it runs and I can ride it to work right
away.

The previous owner has put some washers under the needles. I'm going to
reverse that. I want it stock for best possible fuel efficiency.
