The air filter is stock. The previous owner read a forum posting about 
adding those washers and tried it out.

OK, that's good to know, thanks for letting me know. I'll eventually clean 
and tune the carburetors, so I'll get to the washers then.

Post your progress please. Always good to see how others attack the same 
thing. Can't ever compare my stuff with your level of workmanship though! 
The hand rail looks gorgeous!

Did that. Sat there on the ground and pointed the laser thermometer at the 
pipes like a teacher at students to report their answers. The temps 
compared pretty closely - good!

Arthur, really appreciate your encouragement and support! I'll check the 
spark plugs. 

First order of business is fixing a seeping petcock. Repair kit on its way. 

Slowly getting used to the steering.
