Hi! I realize this post is 9 years old, but I am having this exact same issue, V&H on a 2001 nighthawk, center stand spring wants to bounce right off the perch. Currently have it rigged with a zip tie and a little piece of plastic that I superglued on. However, now there is a fair amount of travel in the center stand while riding and bounces on the back brake linkage (I believe).
Did you ever get this sorted? Ive been trying to track down a new spring and Ive also thought about trying to install a little bumper or something for the center stand but never came up with a workable solution...
